And here’s your chance to be that guiding light for a college goer who is eager to build a great career!

X Billion Skills Lab’s e-learning journey aims to enable youth to shape their intelligence to tackle any situation or opportunity in the fast changing workplace landscape. A key component of our program is to pair learners with a mentor who will appraise them of the changes happening in the business landscape and share perspectives to shape career decisions.

WHO AN IDEAL MENTOR IS
Age

30 to 40 years old

PURPOSE

Can articulate why you believe sharing of experiences and providing guidance can play an important role in shaping someone’s career

Current Professional occupation

Mid to senior level employee of an organization (we are sector or scale agnostic)

Time commitment

Can spare 2 hours for 3 weekends over 3 months for a virtual meeting

MEET YOUR MENTEE
Age

19 to 24 years old

Pursuing

Management, Liberal Arts, Commerce, Engineering or similar streams

ASPIRING

To eventually play a leadership role in an organization and do meaningful work

WHAT THE MENTORING ENTAILS

There will be 3 live video sessions, once a month over 3 months which will be scheduled on weekends at a time slot convenient to you. You will be paired with a group of 3 students who are pursuing their undergraduate degree or have just recently graduated. You will all meet together at the scheduled time. Each of the 3 sessions will broadly cover the following themes :

Break the ice

Introductions and sharing each other’s journey so far as well as future aspirations

The changing landscape

As a mentor, you share your perspectives on how the business and workplace landscape is changing as well as its general impact on different career paths, transferable skills required and share what you think your mentees should do to be able to adapt as well as take advantage of them changes

Sharing Ideas

Based on your committed learning plan, the platform nudges you using creative messages to help you finish the program and derive maximum value

REFERRAL

After the mentoring sessions are over, we will request you to give your mentee a referral note which he or she can include in their CV as employers would feel more encouraged to hire someone if they have been guided or mentored by an already seasoned professional

  1. The mentor<>mentee pairings are not based on specific career streams as this mentoring experience is more focused on exploring broad shifts in the job, career and business landscape which may apply to most streams
  2. A mentor training and orientation manual will be provided to help you plan your conversations to ensure maximum impact

FAQ

Each session will last between 1 to 2 hours.

Each mentee will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire to help mentors get sufficient information about the mentees prior to their first session. This will be shared with the mentors.

You are free to provide your contact details to the mentees but we encourage all communication to happen from within the platform.

The sessions will be conducted using our own proprietary video conferences platform. We will share more details with you regarding its use once you are on board as a mentor.

No, there is no remuneration for being a mentor with XBSL.

Yes, it is possible as long as it is done 5 days prior to the session.
